A How-To that is ready to rock!

Old vinyl records (you remember those, right?)

I found some old records in an antique store in Brenham (NOT Hill Country; thank you, riofriotex, for the correction) for $1 each. I tried to choose ones with fun titles.

1. Heat oven to 200-250°

2. Balance the record on top of the bowl that you are using for the mold.

3. Place in oven for about 5-10 minutes, until the record begins to melt.

Hint: I found that the more I let it melt, the more moldable it was. Be careful not to leave it in there too long, though.

Remember to ventilate. There will be some fumes. Not that that hurt me. ::twitch twitch::

4. Once out of the oven, you can mold the bowl. I used a bowl of the same size to help smooth it out. Be careful that it doesn't stick to either bowl.

Oh, and it is very hot. Be careful of your fingers.

5. Let cool. (It should take about 10 minutes.)

I want to play more with pleats, ruffles, and lips, but that's for another day.

These are NOT for wet items (there's that wacky hole thing in the bottom), but if you line them with a napkin, you probably could use them for chips or something. They probably would make nice gift baskets as well.
