What I'm Working On: Knit tiger toy

Completed Project:Lookie here!Collapse )

Wish List:
  • Ice Gem Centerpiece

  • Soft Baby Cube: I found some half-embroidered pieces of felt that I was going to do as a soft book for a friend. I think I'll do blocks instead.
  • September 1st, 2007

Since I've taught myself to knit, and can (sort of) read patterns, I've come across several possible projects, especially since it might end up being safer to make my child her toys anyhow.

Heaven help me, even though it is totally and completely beyond my ability at this time, I bought this kit. (Many other cute patterns for those who are talented enough and like the whole Amigurumi concept.)

These projects, however, will not be found in my craft bag anytime soon:
  • The Apple Jacket

  • The Princess Leia Wig

  • The Darth Vader Helmet (Although the chance to consume Guinness is attractive.)

  • And skip the whole making yarn out of plastic bags thing. I tried it, and it seemed like a lot of work for little return despite the interesting texture that resulted from crocheting it. If you can sew, try some of the other projects instead.

    Coming soon, completed knitted projects.
I cannot help it. I must craft.

I have no business crafting. I work. I now have a small child. I own a house that requires constant maintenance.

    Regardless, I must craft.

    Therefore, I craft.

I've actually discovered that crafting for me is like being without something to read. I go nuts without some kind of project in tow. It's what the parenting books would call a self-soothing action.

Since my baby was born almost seven weeks ago, I have embroidered four pillows (and the bags that came with them) and finished an embroidered apron. I've also taught myself to knit. And yes, my child is cared for and my house (relatively) clean. So there.

I seriously need help. That is, if I considered that I had a problem.

Heard about this on the local NPR station: Caps to the Capital Campaign. Caps should be mailed by January 2.

Also of interest: Warm Up America! I know there are some local folks who knit/crochet, but it would be neat to get a LJ group doing this too (post pictures of your squares, etc.).

C'mon, you can knit/crochet while you're visiting with family over the holidays, right?

    Knifty Knitting!

Picked up a Knifty Knitter set, and I've been going crazy with it! I've mostly been cranking out baby hats (which in my case is ironic, I know, but I almost have enough to start up an Etsy store, which in turn could help pay for fertility treatments). But when I saw a Michael's flier, I had to try some soft sculpture.

Just in time for Halloween, a pumpkin pillow!

I saw this posted on cuteoverload, but newtonsenigma posted a link. This might be an interesting glamourbombing project.

These are actually where I live!

    Librarian Love Swap

Pictures of what I did for a Craftster Librarian Love Swap. I made color copies from Batgirl: Year One and decopaged them to a wooden book-shaped box.
